(Philadelphia, PA, August 8, 2012) — For the first time, nonprofit professionals who live or work in Southern New Jersey, can earn a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from The Nonprofit Center ’s School of Business, without having to cross the Delaware River.
The Nonprofit Center is bringing nine of its most popular and practical nonprofit management classes to the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey, 1301 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill and the Alice Paul Institute, 128 Hooten Road, Mt. Laurel, between October and April .
“We surveyed the many nonprofits that we work with in Camden, Burlington, Gloucester and other South Jersey counties, and found overwhelming (91 percent) that many local residents employed by nonprofits, or serving on nonprofit boards, welcomed a more convenient way to expand their knowledge in essential nonprofit skills,” said Joan Mintz Ulmer, director of marketing and communications at The Nonprofit Center.
“As a Marlton resident, I myself experienced the inconvenience of traveling into Philadelphia to take the in-depth classes I needed to enhance my skills as a nonprofit professional, “ Ulmer said. “With the South Jersey-based nonprofit education program supplementing the continuing Philadelphia-based Nonprofit Management Certificate program classes , individuals now have a choice of locations and dates, for added convenience.
Participants may choose to take any of the individual nine classes, which include strategic planning, board governance, fundraising, financial management, program design and evaluation, human resources, marketing, and overall management , or the complete program of nine classes, to earn the certificate credential. Individuals can complete their Certificate in Nonprofit Management in as little as six months
“In this increasingly competitive world, this credential is increasingly valued by employers and funders, making our certificate programs more vital to a successful nonprofit career,” Ulmer said. She added that all these and the 60 other courses offered by The Nonprofit Center are also approved for Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) accreditation.
